McAuley 3 & 4 Weekly Newsletter – 27th – 31st July 2020.

Kia Ora Families,

WOW! What a full-on week and how much fun we have had! We are so proud of all our children for their behaviour, enthusiasm, and effort this week!!! Photos coming next week!!

A huge thank you to those parents who were able to help with Stardome! We both really appreciate you coming along. 

 

Next week is back to ‘normal’ with the addition of “Exploring the Arts” 

Starting this week, the Maher and McAuley teams will be joining to “Explore the Arts”.

This will be a weekly rotation on a Thursday afternoon for the rest of the term where each class will explore a part of the Health/PE and Arts curriculum.

Two teachers will be focused on one area and the children will spend 2 weeks at each rotation and then move through the activities.

The rotation will be as follows:

       Exploring Irish Hurling/Dancing

       Exploring Maori Music

       Exploring Drama using emotions

       Exploring printmaking

In week 10, there will be a ‘performance’ and parents will be invited to come and see what the children have learnt. (More information will come out closer to the time).

Tristar this week will be on WEDNESDAY, we will remind you on Tuesday evening.

McAuley team will be leading this, so please come along if you can!

Reading

Point to each word as I read using my ‘magic finger’.

Use the picture to look for clues. 

Recognise sight words when reading. 

Discuss and answer questions about the book

Writing

Draw a picture to match my story.  

Write a sentence using my sight words and finger spaces. 

Adding more detail to my story. 

Maths

Numbers 1-20

Formation, which number comes first and why? Ordering the numbers, joining sets together to make these numbers, simple addition, and subtraction problems. 

Letters of the week

Ff, Bb, Ee, Dd letter name, sound and formation. 

Phonics fl bl, ei, dr – recognising sound and formation.

Religious Education

Participating and contributing in morning prayers. 

Exploring Sacrament Stand
