Red & Black Day Supporting Canterbury
Friday March 11, Our School showed our support for Canterbury by wearing their colours RED & BLACK.  It was absolutely fantastic so see the entire school including all staff & support staff proudly wearing RED & BLACK

One of the songs sung in assembly was our country's national anthem "God Defend New Zealand." The students sung beautifully & with pride.

Donation buckets were by the door at the start of assembly & it was just amazing  how much our small school could raise to support one of our fellow Catholic schools in Christchurch badly affected by the quake. As I moved around the school throughout the afternoon taking photos & video's of each class, it was overwhelming the support & love our school was sending to Canterbury.

A huge thank you goes out to our school families for supporting Canterbury in this
time of hardship.  KIA KAHA Christchurch
Stand proud & you will rise up from this devastation!

In the wake of the recent Earthquake & Tsunami in Japan, our thoughts & prayers also go out to them.

Olympic Medalist visits our school!

We had the pleasure of having Olympic Bronze Medalist & three time World Champion  Mahe Drysdale visit our school.  He talked to us about his special achievements throughout his career, his ups & downs & how he has managed to come out on top.

Mahe started his career at the age of 18, decided he wanted to finish his studies, so put his rowing career on hold.  In 2000 Mahe watched Rob Waddell win Gold in the 2000 Olympics & this inspired him to return to rowing.  He has since won the World Champs three times in 2005, 2006 & 2007 single sculls as well as his bronze medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Mahe was chosen to carry the flag for New Zealand during the Parade of Nations in the opening ceremony at the Beijing Olympics, this was also a very proud moment in his life.  Unfortunately a week before his medal race he became ill & was off form, but he still managed to do all New Zealand proud & bring home a Bronze Medal.

In 2006 Mahe won the supreme Halberg award, the University of Auckland Young Alumnus of the Year Award in 2007 and he was awarded Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to rowing in the New Years Honours 2009.
